Necsa together with the Department of Electricity and Energy had the honour of hosting the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Acting Director, Mr Gashaw Wolde and Programme Management Officer, Mr Michel Warnau. This forms part of their visit to South Africa for Technical Cooperation Africa. They also visited other institutes that work very closely with Necsa such as Nuclear Medicine Research Infrastructure (NuMeRI), National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) as well as Southern African Institute of Welding (SAIW).
At Necsa the visit included strategic engagements with the leadership and project counterparts, as well as site tours of key facilities, including the research reactor SAFARI-1 and NTP’s Mo-99 production operations.
This engagement reflects our continued commitment to strengthening collaboration with the IAEA Technical Cooperation Programme.
